30 million pregnant women across Africa are at risk of malaria, yet far too often, they don’t get the preventive treatment they need. We’re working with community health workers to change that.

In AIDS and Behavior, “Mozambique’s Community Antiretroviral Therapy Support Group program: the role of social relationships in facilitating HIV/AIDS treatment retention” examines peer support groups and their role in improving adherence to treatment, reducing stigma and ensuring clients sustain viral suppression. The authors found the program made it easier for participants to adhere to treatment and lead a healthy lifestyle.
